Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe?
McTimoney treatment is very safe. Prior to any treatment the practitioner will take a full history about the animal to ensure that there are no reasons why it should not receive treatment. If your practitioner suspects a problem, which requires further investigation, then he/she will refer you to your vet before giving any treatment.
Will my animal like the treatment?
Animal readily accept the treatment as it uses only my hands using speed rather than force and works with the animals innate intelligence to restore and realign the system as a whole.
What type of animals benefit from McTimoney treatment?
McTimoney practitioners work on all kinds of animals, but the most common are dogs, horses, and farm animals.
How much does it cost?
Equine chiropractic treatment costs £45. A £10 discount is offered on yards where 3 or more horses receive treatment in one visit. Canine chiropractic treatment costs £35. A £5 discount is offered if 3 or more dogs are treated in the same location during the same visit. Please note that both equine and canine clients are subject to a £15 call out charge if on assessment the animal cannot be treated. Payment is required in the day of treatment. Other small and large animal can be treated on request.
Do I need a referral from my vet?
You must have permission from your veterinarian before anyone can treat your animal. It is illegal for anyone to treat an animal without the approval of a veterinary surgeon.
Will the treatment be covered by my pet insurance?
Most major insurance companies now cover McTimoney treatment for your animal. However, it is best to phone up your insurance company and check if you are unsure.
What area do you cover?
I currently cover a 30 mile radius of Stone which covers Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. However if yards or dog clubs are able to find a day where multiple animals can receive treatment I am more than happy to travel further.
What qualifications do you have?
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Manipulation from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. This allows me to perform chiropractic techniques on animals. I also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Therapy from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic which allows me to incorporate soft tissue work to ensure an effective treatment. Previously I had completed the BSc Bioveterinary Science at the University of Lincoln which gave me an in depth knowledge of animal physiology and common physical and neurological problems which helps to assess animals and determine the best possible treatment plan.
I am constantly trying to obtain a greater and more in depth knowledge by attending CPD events and conferences in order to deliver the most effective treatment with the most up to date research and methods in mind.
